Victim blaming or risk reduction?

I’ve encountered the concept of victim blaming in health literature, particularly from a sociological perspective. Some scholars think that health-promotion can be a form of victim blaming or at the very least, people tend to blame themselves if they become ill.

Loving personal attacks

Is it possible that ad hominem attacks are a sign of progress in debate? Edzard Ernst thinks so. This rings true to me, but I’m not sure how helpful it is.

The limits of egalitarianism?

There is something rather frightening about the changing boundary between lay and expert knowledge. I’m very wary of utopian projects tied to the elevation of the amateur.
